After the First Spoonful (2021)

Food is one of the greatest ways for people to come together. Korean food culture usually features communal dishes for everyone at the table to share like a family. When a group of people come together to share the same food, we naturally form connections through meaningful conversations about our daily lives, experiences, and thoughts. Through my piece "After the First Spoonful", I wanted to depict how food is able to brew memories that are shared within this physical space. By collaging pictures of myself, my friends, and my family on traditional Korean dining tables, this piece illustrates valuable moments growing naturally, as memories often do.
